Boycott Walmart WG – Advocating a holiday boycott of Walmart starting on Thanksgiving: 1. Products in overseas sweatshops 2. Antiunion videos to workers 3. Workers have to work on Thanksgiving. The WG is making flyers, contacting other occupations. Contact Jan if you’re interested in helping.
There is a nation-wide shop local initiative that has already started, and we may be able to tap into that.
Direct Action – will meet after the GA until about 4:30 to talk about this Thursday, the day of action with a lot of groups coming to protest in Albany (a bunch of occupations and groups) – a rally at noon and stuff throughout the day. Buses from Buffalo and Rochester will arrive around 11-11:30, so we’d like to have a big welcoming. Flyers at the info table.
Legal – You may have noticed that the legal tent has been dismantled, not because we are no longer needed but because the wind was taking it down. Mary has temporarily taken all the papers until she can find someone to give them to.
Winterization – They will have an important proposal tomorrow about winterization/weatherization.
Antiwar WG – brand new, no meeting time yet but had good discussion – see Joe if you want to get on the email list.

WG Proposals
NONE
Other Business
Doug – is submitting a proclamation signed by the county legislators in solidarity with OA to the city legislature to get support from the rest of the community. Tomorrow (Nov 14) at 6:30PM, Albany County Legislature at 112 State Street
Colin – an attorney from the city who is in charge of code inspection gave us a heads up that they’ll be here tomorrow at 2PM (their second visit – the first went smoothly)
Hezzie – If you have a proposal, you should make sure a rep from that WG is at the GA – unless you’ve already worked it out with them and are able to answer any questions about it.
CONSENSUS WAS ACHIEVED
Dan – to prepare for the inspection tomorrow, let’s all do a park cleaning at noon tomorrow. DGS is willing to come pick up the trash bags but they need to be called for a special pick-up.
Sheldon – Meghan and Sheldon are from the brand new Occupy Schenectady – next meeting/GA on Saturday at noon at the Moon and River Café at the stockade in Schenectady
Ira – Proposes that there be a media attention to get out info to report what really happens events like last night’s events happen. It’s important to get the web stuff up soon.
Meghan – the Schenectady GA consented to do outreach, education, and other activities, plus material and other support for OA.
Joe – was here last night and would like to hear what happened after people were arrested – what should be our formal response? Something more than a press statement – the DA said he wouldn’t prosecute anyone, so we should hold him to that.
Arrest Report back – Jenny was arrested last night. Flash meditation mob, got arrested, brought to the concourse, processed, and were out in 15 minutes. This will draw attention to the movement, and the emotional level was really good last night. People were arrested for trespassing and one for disorderly conduct. Court dates at Nov 21 and 22, 1 Morton Ave. Arrests took place for being out after curfew on state land. Ira will work with the legal observer video footage to get it edited and put somewhere visible.
Chris – Occupy Troy had its second GA tomorrow. The will not be an encampment, but there will be support and solidarity for OA, and we started working on a diversity of tactics including a mobile occupation such as planning boards (shut down plans to put a new McDonalds in Troy, working with Missing Link Ministry Thanksgiving food share). Meeting 4PM next Saturday at Freedom Square next to the Sanctuary for Independent Media, 6th Ave and 101st street (will likely move into there).
Community-building discussion – to reflect on the occupation at the women’s building, 373 Centreal Ave. (handicap accessible and childcare) at 5PM. Rides available. Bus fare is also available, the #1 bus goes straight there.
