One very salient point discussed at the outreach meeting last night was getting in touch with religious organizations in Albany Schenectady & Troy and areas surrounding. Religious organizations have given sway to the civil rights movement in the 60's and labor movements in the earlier part of this century and may be absolutely essential in inviting interest in the greater occupy together movement.
Churches, Mosques, Synagogues, Indian Temples, Wiccan/Pagan groups, Buddhist groups, Yoga studios and Psychics can be approached. It would obviously be a plus if members of congregations already involved in Albany's GA could talk to their clergy about approaching the topic to the rest of their congregants, during sermon, or through an outreach director or whatnot. Also, the Labor-religion coalition of Albany would be a great group to contact. Let's get a discussion going about how we could proceed with this.

I would like to help with this as I can. It would definitely be possible for me to speak to my church (Mechanicville United Methodist) about OA and open up a dialogue with the congregation and possibly the upper new york conference (a conference is sort of like a district, but bigger)
Labor-Religion would definitely be a good group to contact. I did a lot of work with them when I was involved with Free The Children in High School. The Sisters of St. Joseph in Latham would also be quite supportive, I imagine. They helped us out a lot with FTC and are known for being quite the social justice activists among nuns.
In any case, I'd be glad to start reaching out to the religious communities I'm involved with/have been involved with.

Unitarian Universalists are most likely a sympathetic group. I can contact the one in Schenectady and start the ball rolling. In August the nationwide congregation agreed to publicly oppose the 'Citizens United vs FEC' decision: www.uua.org/statements/statements/185343.shtml(Update) I just spoke with the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations in Boston (the national unifying body, I believe) and they were very supportive of the Occupy causes and will be issuing some sort of official statement to those ends soon.

Although I brought this up to Humane Needs, because the First Israel UME now owns the Washington Ave YMCA building, and since that could be a useful location for bathing facilities for the Occupiers, anyone who has an existing contact who could help with access to those bathing facilities would be appreciated, I'm sure.
