I'm thinking it'd be cool to have an Occupy Thanksgiving. Potluck from folks who have the capability, bringing extra to feed others who are living at the park or otherwise can't prepare food. Maybe we can do some thematic programming as well (teach-ins about early colonial settlers in MA, from any one of many relevant angles).
Who will be around? What food plans exist already?

I talked to Nickelson at the Coop maybe a week ago and he said he'd bring it up to the Food working group about it. I will try to pin someone down in the next day or two so we have time to plan. (I live 4 doors down from Spacehaus so this *should* be possible.) I don't think it should be mostly about them, though. In fact, I really think we who have only pitched in a little bit here and there on food (or those who haven't at all) should do the lions share of the work to put this together. But I want Food's blessing, and perhaps a bit of organizational help, etc. And, unfortunately I can't *promise* at this point (before I start really trying to make this happen) that I will be able to turn out enough food to do it without Humane Resources working their butts off like they always do. But I'm damn well gonna try. If anyone else is interested in helping to organize this, please email me: enpotik@gmail.com.

I have a frozen chicken in my freezer I am never gonna use which u can dip in your frying oil too...
I am willing to work a shift on Turkey day although I will probably need to be offsite for at least a few hours to show my face with some folks who don't yet know well enough to occupy (consider this outreach).

There were 5 people at today's GA who planned to be at the occupation for Thanksgiving proper. There were likely others throughout the camp who were not at the GA and plan to be there for T-giving. I asked them to discuss amongst themselves what they'd like to have. I told them we'd take care of them via potluck if they wanted, but that it would be a smaller event if it were on thanksgiving (though I know there are at least a few families who visit the occupation occasionally and would want to spend thanksgiving down there if we do this). There seemed to be more interest in the idea of them picking up meals from the City Rescue Mission. Gonna go back in a day or two and get their feedback.
I think it'd be cool to do, but it may be one of those things that's not *needed* and not worth the work it would take. MAY be. I'll update when I find out more about the thoughts of the people planning to be there.
