I spoke with Jorde on Thursday, a member of the People's Safety working group. Ze was very supportive of my idea to facilitate a Peace Circle on Friday, specifically a Circle called Driftwood. I learned this at PIRI (Partners in Restorative Initiatives), a group of nonviolent people (Many are Quakers and Mennonites but I am not)they in turn learned the circles from Native Americans. I would be able to do this between 9am-noon Friday Nov 4. Once you know how to do Driftwood, you have a great way to begin any consensual conflict resolution process (mediation, etc) which requires that all stakeholders get to know each other and solve a problem.
Can I get some feedback on this? Or should I just put it on the calendar for next Friday?

@ 3lpoet, thank you for organizing this event it seems like it would be an excellent opportunity for individuals to participate in. If I might offer a suggestion to maximize participation for this exercise, the camp is rather asleep at 9am and those that are up and about most often have been up all night. My friendly suggestion is to delay the facilitation of this program until the afternoon because of its potential importance in community building.

There is a community building forum being organized for Sunday Nov 13th. I'm glad to see multiple people seeing the need and setting things up to happen.
3lpoet if you would like to be involved with planning for the 13th, please email me (enpotik@gmail.com). There's one more planning meeting, but we're hoping it turns into an ongoing forum so there's plenty of time to get involved. I will try to come on Friday (depends what time you settle on) and would welcome the opportunity to make an announcement to the gropu that assembles for the circle about Sunday's event.

just fyi, it was announced tonight that the City's veterans day parade will be coming down Central Ave and Washington with contingents meeting at 11am. The parade will end near Academy Park, and there is a desire to have bunches of people there to talk to folks who might be interested. (There is a Vets for Peace contingent, as well as other possible interest.)
I'm not sure if this will be disruptive to your circle, I just thought I'd mention it. Perhaps you want to plan to hold it further from the beaten path than you might otherwise?
Personally, I'd love to be able to attend, but I'll have my 4yo son since schools are closed so I'd be too distracted for something like this I'm afraid. If there's other parents around in the park it might work out for some of us to watch kids and some of us attend - we'll see.
