How About A Radical Theatrical Project?

I'd like to propose we start a theatrical project. It could be improvisational, scripted or any number of variations in between. We can call it street theatre, guerilla theatre, or any other designation we choose. Performances could be used as direct action, to politically educate the 99% or, even to entertain ourselves in Cuomo-ville, (Lord knows we need it). I'm not looking to direct it because it can be run on consensus just like the GA but I do want to help get it off the ground. Anybody out there interested? BTW: I like to idea of a flashmob too.

I'm not a full-time Occupier by any means, but I would be glad to give whatever time I have to make something happen. I have no investment yet in what sort of piece we create, but there's lots of stuff to think about and ways to make it happen. All it takes is a few committed people.

That's insightful Shage, but I believe the others are on to something here. Someone should make a proposal at the GA, or organize a WG meeting for us, to see who would be interested and what kind of ideas are in people's heads hearts. I unfortunately can't be there today, but keep me posted. Theater is an incredible vehicle for educating and influencing change; if nothing else it forces your (unsuspecting) audience to react. There's a great example in the way that a few Sudanese youth banded together to create a humor/improv troupe centered around issues with the violence in Darfur, religious tension, cultural differences, and political oppression. Thanks for bringing this up.

for clarity's sake, I support this kind of project and can help out by filming it and getting it posted to the nets... I also feel a sense of humor is integral to keeping our spirits enduring over the long haul.

Okay, we have the requisite number of interested parties. Now we need to have a real-world meeting and we meet the WG criteria. I suggest sometime this weekend for a real-world meeting. Saturday morning?
