I am interested in creating a network of trades/crafts people to provide art and other wares for each other as a parallel economy to our current corporate markets. I am also interested in collaborating with people artistically and musically focusing on the theme of corporate greed, to spread awareness about this movement and as a form of direct action. How can we get in touch with each other to meet?

I'm so glad there are other people interested in the arts piece of the occupation! I'm a musician/singer/songwriter and I also have experience organizing concerts and such and I know a lot of other musicians in the area who would be interested in participating as well.
We all have different skills to lend to the movement, and I think those of us with talents and experience in the arts can do big things to make an impact during and around the albany occupation.
Art is a powerful way to get a message across, and it also keeps people's spirits up! I think music, theater, art, etc, can open people's minds to new ways of looking at and thinking about things they would otherwise be put off by, and that's just what we need to happen to grow the Occupy movement.
I'm open to any ideas people have. I mostly just want to get together with other like-minded folks and see what we come up with.
What's the correct path to take to form this working group? Should those interested try to get together before GA briefly or should we just get on the agenda as a proposed group and then get together after?
I'd be up for trying to meet before if people are interested.

Hi. I'm Rose. I have no professional or formal arts experience or training. I'm teaching myself to make those giant puppets you see at protests once in a while. My first one was at the second GA meeting. I'm happy to work cooperatively.

It's great to see this taking shape, especially in respect to building an operational parallel economy. I'm a musician, too and will certainly bring my ukulele/acoustic bass about town when possible

I am an artist - I love the freedom of expression to bring the movement forward. I have designed flyers for various festivals as well as graphics for various people. I want to help out with this movement and bring back LIBERTY (not Democracy) and get back to the Bill of Rights and Constitution. We also have a duty to declare our own sovereignty as well as take back OUR own rights as well as OUR states rights. Peace and bright blessings.

I'm Patrick, I write poetry and play some music in my spare time. Would love to set up some time and space for open word readings at the occupation site.

I'm Emma. I haven't attended any Arts & Music meetings or caught up on all the posts. I am a crafter & an art teacher. Personally I especially love to do sculpture and batik. I am also involved with Expressive Arts, which sort of defies description but is an intermodal approach using low-skill/high sensitivity tools like collage, clay sculpture, simple performance art, playing with rhythm instruments in groups, etc, to involve everyone in art-making with a "the creative process is therapeutic & we can access our deeper selves through artistic expression" approach. I am relatively new to this field and as much as I would dearly love to bring Expressive Arts tools to the occupation in some form I'm hesitant to offer that straight out. I'm gonna get a feel for the atmosphere in the park & think about what might be useful. And I'm going to ask some colleagues in the field who are more experienced if they'd be willing to bring their talents in. I am however not at all hesitant to throw in and do paper mache stuff with puppet folks and bring watercolors for the kids area and teach folks to crochet with plastic bag yarn and whatever else looks like fun.

here as a musician, and setting out to do video as well... have managed studio spaces in the past and been part of a loose arts and ideas collective in an amazingly transformed warehouse space... count me in big time. I play a wide range of instruments, love improvisation and fluid roles... i like taking care of space and creating projects and amusing and sharing with people with my efforts.
I am deeply in love with the occupy movement and while I have a lot of other plans and contributions I intend to make while the occupation goes in it for the long haul, I also hope to show people through some stimulating works, just how much what all of us are doing here means to me. I want people to feel inspired to join us on a positive basis and for my art to reflect that faithfully...

My name is tooladder aka [glow=blue,2,300]"the creepy leftist"[/glow] aka scott_redden@hotmail.com. I want to represent my unique blend of political beliefs, and get to know others beliefs and learn. I am not a trained artist, but love to try. I'm 34, a large blond haired blue eyed guy with a very short beard that's more of a perpetual 5 o'clock shadow. I am technically deaf, but thanks to 7 years of speach thearpy can talk well. I have a weird personality and am not very good in social situations, Please try to take what I say with a grain of salt, I don't interact with people in person as often as most people. I typically like to interact online.

C'est moi, Kristoph the djembelutionary. I have been playing music all my life and study ethnomusicology for a living with the intent of applying to social action, so this is perfect. My skill set includes drumming, singing, playing guitar, didgeridoo, beatbox, and I have experience with many different kinds of music equipment both digital and analog. I plan on bringing my instruments to the park and would love to facilitate a drum circle and/or perform with others in solidarity. I also have a band, The Lucky Jukebox Brigade, and we could definitely apply ourselves later on in the occupation if you think it beneficial. I'll also be bringing audio and video equipment.

When do we meet? None from our working group were represented at the GA today, and I would like to change that. I'll post my proposal regarding a benefit concert in another sector in this forum. Let's make time to meet tomorrow or Thursday.
