How often are press releases put out and and how are they released? Do you hold regular planned press briefings?
I saw a thread for press releases. There were 3 posted the last being 10/23. Have there been more since then? If so are they posted somewhere?
Just curious as to what was officially being released and how.

We issue releases as needed, and we aim for at least one each day but some days require more and some days we don't get anything out. At this point I believe there are only two of us handling writing and distribution. We're posting them to the forum as time allows, in batches.
I'd love to see them go up immediately when they're emailed -- would some kind volunteer like to have his or her email added to the press lists for the purpose of copying & pasting the release to the forum as soon as possible after receiving it? It's not a big task but it would be hugely helpful.
We haven't done press briefings. My sense is that we'd get into a lot of grey area over things like which actions are representative of a position held by OA and which are simply people involved with OA exercising their right to take part in and recruit others for actions that are not necessarily endorsed by OA. We'd also need a large enough pool of people willing to deliver those briefings to avoid making any one or two people appear to OA's 'spokespersons'.
You didn't ask about 'clippings' but I'ma tell ya anway -- we have a volunteer who's been collecting links to media mentions of OA, and we post those to the forum in batches as well...for now.
However, I've begun working on a spreadsheet format for our media coverage links that would allow them to be sorted in a variety of ways. We'd post the spreadsheet in Google Docs with an access link to the document posted here in the forums. Anyone would be able to use, download or contribute to the list.

Thanks. All very helpful. I would volunteer to be added to the press list and would promptly post all releases to the press release thread on this board. My email is markiewicz518@gmail.com.
I suggested in another post that, now that GA meeting minutes are being produced (I think they are posted in a thread on the Facilitation WG board) they be released daily. This would be an excellent way to keep the media abreast of issues being discussed in a concise timely manner. A better informed media will lead to better coverage. Also, since it is already produced it would be easier to release. I was quite impressed with the minutes I've seen posted. Very professionally done and useful.

Thanks Mark!
This is great. I have just added you to our press list. Please post to PR press release thread already started.
As far as minutes being released. Some issues that come up at GA are not pertinent or strategic to be released to the press. And I would like the GA to be able to speak freely without concern that their voice will go public without specific consent. I believe this will encourage free speech at the meetings rather than the idea that opinions and dialog will be self-monitored for image. Therefore PR only covers the main points addressed but is always happy to take recommendations on news-worthy stories.
