Through conversations I have had and several others are having there is clearly a need for a Womens Caucus. Please reply to this post if you are interested and we can begin work to get this going. I have never formed a caucus before so I am no expert. Any thoughts or suggestions? Also, I mentioned in a previous post I have a canopy that I would be happy to set up at the park to be designated for females only to be a safe space, meeting space, etc.. I look forward to hearing from you women out there that are having similar feelings.

I think it's a good idea. I think the way to go forward is to set a meeting time, designate a space, and publicize it within the OA community (here on proboards and via facebook - I can get it posted "officially" on the fb page to get the word out to more people, if you let me know if you set something up.)

I'm very happy to see this caucus come about - I think it's needed and extremely important. My biggest concern (I apologize for voicing a concern before anything else) is that we remain a group and don't have anyone splintering off and making choices/demands on their own. I'd like to see this evolve to having a strong base which all works together. (If that makes sense.)
That being said, I think it's important that we make meeting times that can work well for everyone. Not to put the cart before the horse, but here is my availability: M, Tu, Thur, Fri - after 5.30 PM Wed - I have classes after work, so really not a good day for me Sat - Mornings to 1'ish Sun - Not a good day, I travel for family stuff
I hope it's okay I posted that. I'm eager to meet everyone and see how we can help each other.

Hi, all. Holding Our Own/Women's Building gathered a small group of women--mostly women of color and begun having conversations about the role of women in the Occupy movement and how we could contribute a feminist perspective to the local Occupy. We were planning to gather again on Saturday. Let's connect and join voices?
We were looking at trying to gather together at OA after the GA.
Thoughts?

I'm so glad that there's interest in a women's caucus -- there's clearly a need for women's voices on many levels, particularly with respect to leadership & visibility (challenging to say the least in a 'leaderless' environment) and issues -- how economic injustice impacts women. I really would like to see convergence between this forming group and the group already in conversation at HOO/WB, especially since the Women's Building space IS a space for women's action. Connecting the two could definitely deepen the conversation and reach out to the broad community of women -- especially those who haven't quite made the connection to Occupy. Nadya

Nadya and Carmen: Great to hear from you two dynamic women. I think getting together Saturday after the GA is a great idea. If this is agreed I would like to start getting the word out asap. I have a canopy that I was thinking of setting up in the park before then that is just for women. Any thoughts? Looking forward to making this happen. Thank you!

I'd be interested in a women's caucus meeting too. I was not at this forum to learn about the last one.

Hi Joanne & Mtnclimber, Right now we're trying to figure out when to meet next (and if, when, and how we want to schedule regular meetings) If you have email addresses that you want added to the listserv, you can email me directly and I'll add you or you can go to our google pg and send a request to join the group: groups.google.com/group/occupyalbanywomensgroup?hl=enIf not, we'll post any info on upcoming meetings as soon as we have a definite meeting time! Looking forward to see y'all there! Sarah spodber@gmail.com

Can someone post the minutes, or at least some notes from the last caucus meeting?
