I think we should consider starting safety trainings (is that the appropriate category?) with non violent self defense trainings. Municipal police are responding to protest not as non-violent disobedience of the citizenry but as an insurgency. I will be at the Wall street occupation on Sunday, otherwise I would suggest it at tomorrow's assembly.

Agreed. Lauren is interested in this (are you here, Lauren?), and I am excited to see women get involved in leading up this kind of effort.

Being Safe is going to host the Rev. Dr Timothy Lake to offer basic Non-Violence Techniques training after the GA on 10/27.
There will be more coming, we promise!

Hi guys! I am definitely down with some self-defense training in the near future. Please contact me here, at 518 368 1774 or at my e-mail address which is ouellette.lauren@gmail.com . Due to safety issues, I would not be comfortable proposing that we offer this kind of training on site.
