Has anyone considered opening stack (for a short predetermined time) after a working group gives its report? I noticed stack is only opened if the WG makes a proposal.
I think it would be a good way for the assembly to interact with the WG'S. I know the forums exist for this purpose (I am using it now), but remember we want everyone, including those without internet access to participate.
It could also speed up the meetings. Getting direct answers in this manner could alleviate concerns thus mitigating the need for other more time consuming actions. For example, I had concerns about what the role of the PR WG was. It appeared to me that they may be FORMULATING the message as well as DISSEMINATING it. This concerned me. It also appeared that they may be discussing what to release on a private board, more concerns. I sniffed around the boards and posted a few questions but didn't get a clear answer. I ended up formulating a proposal that was the last order of business on Sunday, and after a robust discussion, was tabled for a later meeting. After the meeting I had a good talk with a member of the media group and my concerns were alleviated. If I could have questioned her earlier, after she had given her report and before she brought up her proposals, I may have have withdrawn my proposal for consideration.
Just a thought.
By the way, my concerns stemmed from Fridays GA were the PR group brought up their proposal for a press release. I just thought it may have been better if another WG or even assembly member had made the proposal and then let the Media group release it. I was concerned again when I saw a private message board had been established. I didn't want to be critical or the Media group. They are working hard, like all of us and doing great work. I am very impressed with the number of media contacts they now have, over 100. I know this is a work in progress and everything improves on a daily basis.
Keep up your good work. Your group has the most responsibility and one of the hardest tasks and seems to face criticism on a daily basis. A tough job indeed.
