I didn't stay last night. I just don't feel comfortable willfully breaking the law. I just stayed till 11:00 to help bluff the police. Not only do I have alot to lose, I don't like the idea of being in a political group that defiantly breaks the law without even trying to work with athorities to stay within the law. I belive in the democratic process and think that if we are vocal and work to get the curfew lifted, not just ignore it, we will get even more supporters. We will also have affected change in a small way possibly building momentum.

This is my understanding and should not be accepted as legal advice. Nor should it be interpreted to reflect the opinion of the whole of the general assembly.
Our intention is to express our right to peaceable assembly guaranteed by the constitution. Our rights are guaranteed so long as we do not infringement upon the rights of other citizens by exercising them. Despite what you may have heard, our legal working group is in constant communication with the police. For specific information I suggest posting in their forums.

No reason why we can't stay AND push for a curfew lift. The best defense is a good offense and all that.

Yes,
Legal is in constant direct communication with authorities. If you would like specifics on this, you can come talk to me in PR. The APD has been extremely understanding and supportive.
PR initiated a direct line of communication with APD as soon as we knew the location of the Occupation. We passed this info to Legal so that they could be intimately involved.
We do not negotiate etc. We simply keep communication open. Legal keeps us abreast of the sentiments and movement of the police and deals with these issues directly.
It has been outstandingly handled so far, by all sides.
My personal opinion-> I would just like to say that curfew laws were put into place to protect the citizens. As long as we are not engaged in any criminal or disruptive behavior it is expected that the spirit of the law would allow us to remain there.
Laws are only 'just' if the people support it.
