UPDATE 10/20:
Press release went out Tuesday & yesterday to approx 90 contacts on our list at about 40 different news outlets.
Fox news23 interviewed PR working group after meeting on Tuesday
Times Union (Bryan Fitzgerald) contacted me for a brief overview. he was most concerned about what would happen at 11pm when curfew went into effect. I referred Bryan to the Legal working group for specific details. I stressed that it was a non-violent movement. I spoke about my -personal- positive interaction with the police presence in NYC OWS.
I gave our PR contact info to the Albany Police Department and let them know I wasn't 'in charge' but wanted to maintain a good relationship with them, and that Legal Working Group would be speaking with them about particulars of the occupation as the General Assembly advises. I shared the contact info with Legal Group
Fox23 news is interested in going down to NYC with a local that is at OWS. Please email occupyalbanypr@gmail.com if that person can be you.
I have confirmation that Nikolai Busko News Director Albany Broadcasting (518) 786-6603 will be sending someone down for sure on Friday
Let me know what else you may need from me.
-Hezzie

Thank you Hezzie, but when you say gave our PR contact to the Police Department, do you mean our personal emails/phone numbers or the occupyalbanypr@gmail contact???

kl, --> The occupyalbanypr@gmail.com and the PR phone number that will go live this afternoon.
I will -never- (nor should anyone) give personal contacts out to the public without first asking : )

I know there was some discussion on other forums here about whether or not we should reach out to the APD, but my feeling is that since interaction with the police department is inevitable, we should engage the police department(s) and, as much as possible, set a positive tone for the relationship. It could make a world of difference later in resolving whatever conflicts might arise.
Hezzie, since 'the park' is actually two adjoined properties owned, respectively, by the City of Albany and the State of New York, we should probably get that contact info to the State Police as well.
I'm sure you've got a dozen plates in the air right now, so if you'd like, I can track down the appropriate contacts -- probably for the Capitol unit across the street, the nearest barracks and the regional HQ. Just say "GO" and I've get on it.
