We discussed three goals that we believe would help benefit the movement, and hopefully can be done by Friday 1.) Have a couple of PR members volunteer to help facilitate and coordinate all the various Social Media sites (FB, Twitter, Youtube, etc). So instead of 3-4 different pages pop up for these sites, we can be in solidarity. As well as figuring out whose running what (Note. we dont want to take over adminstration of these sites and push out those who started them, we just want to coordinate with them, and they can stay in control, we just want to reach out to them in a more organized manor. Keep Up the good work!) 2.) We want to set up a guide on how to talk to press (tip list), as well as set up mock interviews for practice. 3.) we want to figure out how we are getting advisory out to press, and figure out how are going to contact them in general. we discussed someone volunteering to call press and set up interviews with those who are willing to talk to them in front of camera. We also realized various groups overlap in various areas. So we propose to have a volunteer double linking and reporting back to overlaping groups. And there was a suggestion that coalition & PR work together to help people learn and understand what we are doing. Update PR should focus on: * Helping the group establish guidelines. * With a focus on how to say certain things. * Establishing and recording a group statement. * PR can certainly be providing info for protestors about what or how to say certain things in regards to the movement. (our voice) * How and when will this information get out to the public? *** Harrison to post media contacts on FB *** Press lists to be posted on Pro Boards

Hey, I have access to the website and facebook page. Good luck getting in contact with the twitter account holders, they've been very cagey.

Right now only thing out to the press is a an email version of the draft that was posted yesterday morning. We are adding more press contacts to the list as we go, and another round will be sent out to them as well as via fax to those that have fax. It is a very general press statement - as you may have seen. So yes, we should be prepared to elaborate and answer questions in person. Can I get a list of people willing to do that?
There are two of us working on actual press releases and distribution. I would like a team of at least 4 if there are more that would like to step up. We use the OccupyAlbanyPR@gmail.com to coordinate efforts etc.

I have no problems talking to the press, after yesterday,I noticed some rather not get involved in the press. Im no expert, but I will contribute.
As far as social media sites coordination, thank you guys!!! For one, taking the initiative, and secondly responding to the post, i don't have a twitter account so I have no clue how it works, or how to get in touch with the twitter folk.

If the twitter group refuses transparency, how about starting a new twitter acct w/ a different name that's run by ppl who're willing to be accountable to the GA?

When someone from the media shows up there should be someone from PR assigned to greet them. It should be their job to explain what's going on, offer a tour and introduce them to possible interview subjects.

We didn't really "designate" anyone to approach the media, But between Dylan, skully, and I, we did just that. We must also not forget to warn the group the media wants to tour (if with camera), anyone who would rather not be captured on film for whatever reason can Then have the opportunity to step away for the moment if they wish

Update:
Times Union contacted me for a brief overview. they were most concerned about what would happen at 11pm when curfew went into effect. I referred them to the Legal working group.
I gave our PR contact info to the Albany Police Department and let them know I wasn't 'in charge' but wanted to maintain a good relationship with them, and that Legal Working Group would be speaking with them as the General Assembly advises.
Fox23 news is interested in going down to NYC with a local that is at OWS. Please email occupyalbanypr@gmail.com if that person can be you.
I have confirmation that Nikolai Busko News Director Albany Broadcasting (518) 786-6603 will be sending someone down for sure on Friday
This is Hezzie. The computer had me logged in to another's account

PR should focus on:
* Helping to facilitate the conversation, but not controlling it. * Developing speaking points for media. * Helping the group establish guidelines. * With a focus on how to say certain things. * Establishing and recording a group statement.
* Coordinating and holding mock interviews.
To Do or determine Immediately:
1. Track down the various social network coordinators (Facebook, Twitter ... ) 2. Develop/Pass on Press Ticklist.
* PR can certainly be providing info for protestors about what or how to say certain things in regards to the movement. (our voice)
3. There should be an advisory about the information going out to the press.
* How and when will this information get out to the public?

I have accumulated the presslist & the internal contacts list for PR, including FB admin, twitter acct admin, proboards, email, & phone administrators. I dont think these should be posted publicly, but I can give access to the lists to anyone that needs it.

Hi Hezzie,
I am Harrison. I was at the 10/18 working group meeting. I have some good media lists but it seems like everything is pretty under control.
I'll be there at 6 today and will be happy to help with any P.R. related tasks. My number is 518.598.6309
