Online & on it now. I have made a PR email so that things like this don't slip through the cracks again:

It's ok if they have to wait. We shouldn't talk to the press until we're ready.

They called me. Nice couple of guys. They let me take a look at the notes of their interview with Mayor Jennings.
I invited told them that they could show up at the outreach/pr meeting last night and see if anyone would be willing to talk. To people from pr said a few words, they did a pan of the meeting and were on their way. They were very accommodating to the person who did not want to be filmed.
To me it's free advertising. This is a local affiliate. Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity are not going to come to our Occupy Albany event. They are going to do press on us whether we like it or not, so we should do our best to get the message out there that we want. This is the reason we even have a PR group.

They left out any message of "this is a non violent movement" as well as why we are here, and what we hope to accomplish, by nature, I give people the benefit of the doubt, but after last night...I think I agree with shage lol

We just have to stay 'on point' keep repeating the very basic messages. Always lead the questions back to the points you think are important. Media does not always accurately portray what you intend, but they can best do that the more we are clear and repetitive. I doubt its a deliberate misstep. We just have to stick to message.
Nice job btw.
It was good to see Chris Scully labeled an educated and tech-employed former RPI student. It was wise of you to include that, and reaffirm that perception that we are not just 'jobless hippies.'

Just had in idea, on the other hand, we can allow fox23 to interview us, but someone in PR or Media can hold a camera(i have one) and film the whole thing (PR & fox) and we can use the whole scene and not just what fox wants its base to hear...just a thought

kl I actually thought you did great. We'll do whatever it takes, I think you said?
Awesome. Maybe we don't want middle america to hear that, but I want to hear that.
Free advertising, like I said.

yea, i didnt want to outright say yes or no lol. didnt want say no, because i didnt want anyone to form the conclusion we weren't that serious, that at the first sign of trouble we would be willing to back down...but at the same time i didnt want to say yes, because i know some people just cant be put in that position (children to care for, warrants, medical issues, etc)

Yeah, they definitely left out the meat of the message. The sensationalization of inevitable conflict was the major goal. They were very interested in the protestor / police and jailing relationship. We should videotape every interview as well. Good ideas!
