NOT A LAWYER- But I was reading the city codes related to parks, and saw this:
§ 251-3. Use as bleaching grounds; fences. No person shall use any of the parks, places or squares as a bleaching ground, nor spread thereupon any article of wearing apparel, cloth or cloths, or any goods whatever...
Even though nothing refers to tents specifically, it seems like they would fall under the category of goods spread on the ground. It also says that the fine is $2 (same as tying a horse to the fence).

Does that mean the same as it costing 2 dollars a night to put something on the ground? Or is there a limit on how many citations you can get?

This forum is kind of confusing..
So, are you guys saying we probably can't use tarps, tents, sleeping bags etc in the park?

Firstly: A bleaching ground is defined as an area that was used to "clean" clothing- A good illustration of this would be imagine persons standing at the edge of the water using that water to clean, and then laying the clean articles of clothing/cloth, etc on the ground/fences, etc. Here is a link to a picture portraying this: www.barewalls.com/pv-534935_Bleaching-Ground.htmlThis is a very old code, and it does not apply to our activities. Hope this clarifies that aspect. There is nothing in the code that mentions sleeping bags, etc.

Information volunteered to me about Lafayette/Academy Park by the Albany Police Department. I can not vouch for accuracy of the officer's statements:
'The division between Albany/Lafayette park is unclear as to where exactly state land ends and where city lands begin.' -approximate statement
