hey folks. Let's get a list going of tasks and who's going to do them & when. We can add to this list as we continue discussing further agenda items.
I have here, in no particular oder: 1 - Who is F/L wg spokesperson at this GA? 2 - Publicize Agenda suggestions mechanisms (here and elsewhere online) 3 - Solidify facilitation team & they get together before meeting 4 - Make signs to convey process info for display at GA mtgs 5 - Make brochure about consensus process 6 - Location for next GA (is time & date also our purview)
What else?

I'd be happy to do 1, though I don't need to. I'd also be happy to do 2, and if nobody objects or steps in and does it by this evening, I'll take care of it cuz it's important to get it done ASAP.
We had a volunteer to make signs - was it Lauren? (sorry I'm fuzzy on names) Can you do them all, and do you need help either with production and/or with clarification about what's needed?
Becca is working on a hand-out/brochure. It's on google docs & she's happy to have input (Becca can you repost the link in its own thread for feedback, maybe?). Matthew and Colin both have copying capabilities and Becca will work with one of them to get this ready for distribution.
Location - I'm supposed to be spearheading this sub-working-group, so talk to me folks! The only suggestion I've heard so far is FUUSA. I can talk to them, and it's ideal in many ways, but it doesn't qualify as a neighborhood we haven't been in yet.

Emma that would be great if you could do #2. Maybe you and Matt could team up to do #1, I think he indicated that he was interested last night and I think it makes sense for two people to team up for that task. We should try to figure out the scope of what you all will talk about in the W/G report back vs. what the facilitators should say in their intro.
In terms of #3, I think I'm all set with a co-facilitator and I also recruited another friend to be on the facilitation team (maybe as one of the three stack-takers?). They both bring a lot of experience and help us with our goal of having a diverse facilitation team.
In terms of #5, as mentioned above, I can help with printing. I won't be able to get downtown until about 2:00pm on Sunday but could meet up anytime after that if needed and can access the printing/copying in my office the day of if anything isn't done ahead of time.

OK, #2 is done. Thread created (w/in f & l section). Posted link to the 3rd mtg FB event, and messaged to all participants. Messaged to one of the "owners" of the Occupy Albany FB page with request to post.
Is the facilitation team meeting immediately prior to the GA? Like for 15 minutes or so to collect additional agenda items or whatever? I knwo there's an event at GSCA... If you decide on where & when to have the agenda-finalization meeting let me know and I'll edit it into my introductory post.

Oh, and I'm happy to have Matt do #1 if he'd like. Or we can do it together. Either is fine with me. Good idea to have a brief online chat about what goes in that and what goes in the facilitators' intro.

I see no one's signed up to make signs. Not sure I'm the most qualified --- not much of an artist or graphic design guy --- but I'll see what I can do unless someone else volunteers or would like to help.

I'm happy to work on #1, and present a summary of our activities since the last meeting of the GA, and our proposals to the GA. As far as proposals, I had suggested at the WG meeting that the entire process that we've adopted for the next meeting is basically our proposal, so I'll just outline 1) our understanding of the relationships among the movement, the General Assembly, and the Working Groups, and 2) the decisions we made that in our WG that have shaped the process, and make it clear that we're accepting feedback (the process as a living, changing thing) ...were there any other proposals that we had to bring to the GA that won't be implicit in the way we facilitate the meeting? I'll post in the subforums of each of the other WGs, too, to make sure that they are prepared to have a spokesperson address the GA... cool?
We've been talking about making posters... I just remembered that media / tech raised the idea of (maybe offered to arrange for) using a PC with PowerPoint connected to a projector... thoughts?

Hey guys in regards to the tasks 1)I support either Matt or Matt and Emma 2) If Emma is volnteering I support that. 3) Seems like Colin has a co-facil in the works as well as stackers which is great 4) Dave has appeared to volunteer to make signs but perhaps power point may be easier r be useful in addition to signs 5) I beleive there was a consensus flyer at the working group which was going to have some revisions made on it and i think someone talked about having something in the works regarding a hand sign handout as well.I would be willing to meet Colin to do the printing of these documents anytime on sunday just tell me where and when and perhaps Colins contact so we may meet up.
I am new to this whole process so I am offering to be a greeter , pass out handouts make a table and can be there as early as needed. If there is any other way I can help please let me know.I can also direct people to working group people if they have agenda issues to add as they come in.

sorry i have been unable to make any meetings but have been at both GA's and will be there Sunday. My question is about facilitators, Musa Zwana who faciitated the media WG last sunday is interested in being a facilitator. I dont know what the process is but i think is is important to have a person of color as a facilitator if we want to encourage more diverse participation. Any thoughts?

bhawin - Colin had a couple POC friends in mind as possible co-facilitators for this week & said he found someone. I don't know who it is. We are also working, probably for next week, on facilitator recruitment & training. We have a couple of names for that & will add Musa's name to the list. Thanks for letting us know of his interest - is he on FB or do you have an email address by which the F & L WG can contact him?

Thanks, Musa's email is musazwana@gmail.com.
Also there is a people of color caucus forming for OA and it would be great if one of us could speak during the intro of the meeting to just remind folks to not forget that we need to make sure this movement is building solidarity with POC and connecting with existing struggles that POC in Albany are engaged in already ( This would be very brief - 2-3 min.).
Also as a reminder please make sure to explain what progressive stack is and adhere to it. It was noticed by several people i spoke with after last weeks meeting (including myself) that the facilitators were not familiar with/or adhering to that - with regards to POC and women's voices.
Sorry to go on - I just feel like this WG is very instrumental in setting the tone for the meeting and therefore holds a lot of responsibility especially in making sure folks are checking themselves. Thanks and keep up the hard work!

The plan is to do progressive stack & we did review what that means. The plan is also for the facilitators to help more with the "folks checking themselves" stuff on many levels. The plan is also to solicit feedback after the meeting re how things went & how folks would like to see them change for next time.
Meanwhile, I love the POC caucus idea. Someone suggested caucuses for interest groups in general & nobody's run with it except you guys as far as I know. Definitely a good idea, imo, to include caucuses in the "working groups" section of the agenda, with report-back and/or proposals. I'll make sure this week's facilitation team gets the memo.

Hey y'all i'm very excited for the GA tonight. Three things:
1. I think Bhawin raises an excellent point about the need for people of color to be part of the facilitation team as we discussed in our Thursday meeting. I have reached out to three experienced women of color who have all agreed to help. Taina Asili, a highly experienced local activist and artist, agreed to help with vibe checking. Angelica Clarke, from the student movement, agreed to help take stack. And Sharmin Hossain, who is an experienced facilitator who helped facilitate a GA at the March Occupation of the NYS Capitol, is returning from NYC & OWS this morning to help me co-facilitate tonight. Bhawin I think it would be great if Musa also wants to join the team in any capacity, or if it is too late at this point, perhaps we could agree to have Musa facilitate the next GA (we all agreed that rotating facilitators is important).
Also I think it would be great if the POC caucus wanted to make some brief remarks during the introduction - I'm happy to make that happen as facilitator. 2. I'm happy to the printing for the handouts but haven't seen the document that needs to be printed yet - if someone could e-mail it to me at cdonnaruma@hotmail.com that would be great.
3. Could we all try to meet-up by 4:15pm outside the venue today?
Everything else above sounds good and like it is coming together. If anyone needs to get a hold of me by phone my number 518-461-5702 - I'll be tied up from 11am to 1pm but free after that. Thanks, Colin

Oh I found the brochure on another thread in the forum - I'll print out around 200 this afternoon!
Also is someone bringing big pads of paper and markers?

Musa tried to facilitate the comm/tech working group. He had a tough time subduing his own point of view. I think he was trying, but it's something he'd need to work on. He seemed more like a manager running a meeting.
