This may fall into the general outreach groups territory but maybe, with so many college in the area, it might be best to have a specific student outreach workgroup to network between all the schools and student groups and deal with their issues.
students have been a major driving force in many of the occupations around the country but so far i haven't seen many of them represented at our GA meetings or in our discussions. anyone want to take this up?

I'd be interested in contributing to this working group. I think that the campus environment and the student, as a typology, are unique enough to warrant a specialized WG. I also teach at a local college. We probably wouldn't have to meet as a WG, as a whole, very often (if at all). We could probably meet as student body-specific subgroups, and report back to the WG on the forums.
If any students stumble upon this thread and want to get organized you ought to do the same- organize at the level of your school (there might already be an activist community you can tap into), and get a spokesperson (or spokespeople) to coordinate with this group.

I would be interested in this, as I'm there all the time. There are only a few sanctioned places where anyone can hang flyers but it is entirely possible to hand out literature.

I live right by RPI so I plan on handing out flyers there. Probably today or Saturday.

bw: I'm around SUNY, although I'll be doing research all day. I put up some flyers for the B-Boy BBQ at Grand Arts (happening Sunday before the GA) and talked to a couple student groups that were tabling. Talking to the Student Groups tabling is a really good idea to do EVERY DAY as different groups set up shop and I feel most of them would be at least somewhat responsive. I'm also going to go up to the radio station with flyers and other materials at some point. Making outreach part of one's daily routine and talking to people while on lines for food, etc. is a good strategy overall. It promotes community and people actually talking things out. @stephanie: don't forget RPI's radio station and see if you can pass out flyers to student organizations, the Graduate Student Orgs, and whatnot during their office hours or while they're tabling. The Ground Zero music booking club/space is also probably a good group to get in touch with because I feel they share a lot of the 'punk-rock-ness' of how this movement is spreading. I usually never make it over to Troy anymore so keep people engaged and thanks!!

I did some flyering at SCCC the other day. I've been wanting to try talk to some representatives of different student groups (especially trying to get contacts at the different campus ethnic groups/clubs) but I've been kind of unsure of how to approach them. any ideas?
edit: btw, if we could get a spot on wrpi that would be the shit. I know a lot of people, not just rpi students listen to the station because it's a pretty bad ass radio station. I know the one dj hairman do is a pretty cool guy and he seems like the kinda dude (he's an old hippie cat) who would let you speak for a minute maybe even interview. oo that's a good idea. try to get someone to get an interview with him on wrpi?

Yeah! I love the radio stations idea, I went up to WCDB yesterday but they were kind of busy so I left some flyers with them. I think there could be some cross-pollination with this and the media group. I think some of those media folks have connections there too.
