I'm an admin on the website and fb page so people can get in touch with me if they have any questions or suggestions for either.

Dylan, can the Solidarity Sit-in scheduled for October 15th be posted daily on the Facebook page so that we can build numbers? It is pushed down in the Facebook feed so it is not visible when someone goes to the Facebook page.

Can we get a crows site? crowsne.st The pittsburgh independent media center developed one for the g20 and it was super effective. It collects all the social media hashtags from flicker, youtube and twitter and puts them all in one place Wall St is using one www.occupyfeed.com/:)c

This is a loosely organized thing freewheel, the question is can "you" get a crows site? I just wanted to let people know that I substituted @occupyalbany for @occupyalbanyny1 in the twitter feed on the website because they were updating much more regularly.

Can you set it up to show #OccupyAlbany instead? Both accounts should be adding the hashtag anyway.

That's annoying. Would we have more options if we had hosting?

This is out of my area of expertise, but generally twitter users don't follow a hash tag, they follow a user. The hash tag aggregates all the info about a topic and isn't used as much so there is less support for it generally.
What would work is to find out who is responsible for the twitter feeds and get them all on the same account. All we'd need to do is make sure they know the password for @occupyalbany. This would flow a lot better with how people use twitter and with the fact we can only show one username on twitter.
Also on the title page of the forum it says "follow #occupyalbany" on twitter. Again you don't follow a hash tag you follow an account. If we get everyone on to post on the same feed we can fix this too.
Do we know who operates the different accounts?

Who runs the twitter accounts? I'm a little concerned about having more than one, and wonder if we should consolidate them and distribute account access to multiple people.
And just for reference I am also an admin on the Facebook page and website.

Ha I just sent you a personal message asking you this question because I thought one of them was you. I'll send them each a dm and see if we can figure this out.
Well I tweeted at them instead we'll see what happens.

I'm not a website or media person, but I think it's really important that occupyalbany.org updates any time the GA approves a proposal.
Like tonight we made a really important decision, so since the website is referred to in the media it should reflect our progress. I think someone from the media team should be writing down all the proposals that get passed and post them as accurately as possible.
Since it's going out on the livestream anyway, shouldn't it be accessible public information?

I like the design of your blog. How do you feel about testing the waters with CSEA, maybe seeing if they'll let us set up a media center / charging station there? Does anyone know who has contact with them? Also we do have a livestream which I have admin on which I am willing to share. Finally what hardware do we need to create a wireless hotspot?

I would like to see if the Media and Technology working group could put a post on the main page of the Occupy Albany website about the People of Color Caucus meeting on Wed. Since it is not exactly a working group I wasn't sure if it fit in the category of working groups on the forums page. And if our priority is to reach out to people of color, then I think its important that information about the meeting be easily accessible from the main page without having to sift through the forums page. If other caucuses form, maybe it would be worthwhile to have a caucus category of the forums page.
It would also be great if it could be posted on the twitter and facebook pages as well.
Is it possible for whoever is the admin for the facebook page to change the picture to the new image which announces the occupation start date? The same image that is on the front page of the occupyalbany website.
Thanks, Taina Asili
Here is the info below: This group was created in response to the need for racial diversity and visible women's leadership at OccupyWallSt and Occupy Albany. This group’s purpose is to develop critical consciousness within the movement and to extend the movement's reach to include those most affected by the current crisis, particularly women of colo...r. It is open to all who identify as people of color.
From the People of Color Occupy Wall Street working group:
“Let’s be real. The economic crisis did not begin with the collapse of the Lehman Brothers in 2008. Indeed, people of color and poor people have been in a state of crisis since the founding of this country, and for indigenous communities, since before the founding of the nation. We have long known that capitalism serves only the interests of a tiny, mostly white, minority.
Black and brown folks have long known that whenever economic troubles ‘necessitate’ austerity measures and the people are asked to tighten their belts, we are the first to lose our jobs, our children’s schools are the first to lose funding, and our bodies are the first to be brutalized and caged. Only we can speak this truth to power. We must not miss the chance to put the needs of people of color—upon whose backs this country was built—at the forefront of this struggle.”
from Ms. Foundation: “If we want to dismantle oppression in our society, we can only hope to do so by recognizing the ways in which these various systems of oppression intersect and support one another. That doesn’t mean we can’t focus on the economy as a nexus of inequality; clearly, the occupation of Wall Street speaks directly to fighting corporate power and economic privilege. But we cannot imagine creating a society rooted in equality without fighting for all forms of equality, and that includes embracing feminist values.”

@occupyalbany is tweeting at an incredibly slow and reserved way. less than a tweet a day, with no excitement and no hype. I'm@tooladder and I have the time and enthusiasm to hype the movement if given access to the handle. People are going to check it out once, see it's dead figure the movements gonna flop and never check again so let's try to get this going asap

I've gotten in touch with whomever's running that feed and they refuse to give up control or allow others to use it. If you want to contact them to give it another shot great otherwise we should make a new twitter account run by people more involved with what's going on.
